My story in the Army. Enlisted Jan 1960. Basic training at Ft. Hood Tx assigned to 53 signal battalion after basic. mos 631 (wheeled vehicle mechanic). Aug 60 transferred to 8th missile battalion at Ft. Bliss Tx. I couldn’t get away from Texas. This unit was assigned to Okinawa Mar of 61. I thought I was stuck in Texas…. Okinawa was something else…12 months later they where looking for volunteers to go to Vietnam, guess who said take me. I spent the last of my time in Saigon. Out of the pan and into the fire.

All in all it was the best learning experience of my life. I wouldn’t trade those times for any thing.
